The challenge
The energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by digitalisation and the integration of advanced analytics. For PPC, the key challenge was to harness the power of big data and AI to improve visibility into consumption patterns and trading dynamics. Success in today’s complex and fast-moving energy markets requires not only forecasting accuracy but also the ability to process and interpret vast amounts of data in real time. PPC needed a solution that could transform raw data into actionable insights, enabling agile, data-driven decisions, strengthening trading strategies, and supporting long-term portfolio optimisation.
The solution
The solution
As part of its broader digitalisation strategy, PPC implemented KISTERS solutions such as a forecasting system, an energy data management system with mass data capability, and a sales aggregation system. These tools enable the advanced processing of vast amounts of information, directly improving portfolio management processes.
The system now manages around 10,000 load-profile metered medium and high-voltage outlets and around six million low-voltage contracts in Greece. With the ability to rapidly process and analyse large-scale data, PPC is able to leverage cutting-edge AI to make informed, data-driven decisions and continuously refine its trading strategy.

Rapid management and analysis of mass data.
BelVis TSM processes master data and energy time series for approximately 10,000 extraction points, while the sales aggregation summarises the long-term forecast for RLM (recording power measurement) measuring points into procurement segments. Thanks to the rapid management and analysis of large volumes of data, PPC can make well-informed, data-driven decisions at any time and continuously improve its trading strategy.
AI-based bottom-up approach for highly accurate forecasting.
PPC uses the KISTERS forecasting tool BelVis PRO to generate various forecasts via a bottom-up artificial intelligence-based approach. These short-term forecasts provide highly accurate support for trading activities on the day-ahead and intraday markets. Forecasts are calculated every three hours, with a seven-day horizon and hourly resolution.
Improved portfolio management and an effective trading strategy.
The long-term forecast of RLM measuring points is created using a bottom-up approach, with the results aggregated into procurement segments using KISTERS sales aggregation. This approach supports the development of effective commercial strategies and the ongoing optimisation of PPC’s portfolio management.
