3D ViewStation

KISTERS/Adobe

High performance 3D processing with 3D ViewStation

In the new 3D ViewStation, you can combine files from different CAD applications, generate dimensions and sections based on precise geometric data, as well as carry out version comparisons and exploded views, animations and item references. You can export the processed version in neutral formats such as 2D vector or pixel images, or save to the Adobe PDF format.

The package includes a full Acrobat Pro Extended license allowing desktop-sharing, PDF-markups, Adobe Reader extensions activation plus our XML-extensions to simplify PDM/PLM_integrations. Rather than using old-fashioned APIs you just create a XML-file which tells the 3D ViewStation i.e. how to create a virtual product from files of various sources, incl. positioning information or which loads a simple assembly. We also extract the product structure of a loaded assembly to an XML-file, which allows to create the structure in a PLM-system automatically.
Another important differenciator is the availability of floating licensing. The neccessary license manager is included at no additional costs.

The following fileformats are supported:
read:
Catia V5+V4, NX, Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks, Inventor, SolidEdge, I-DEAS, OneSpace Designer, Topsolid, CADDS, STEP, IGES, ACIS, Parasolid, 3D-PDF,JT, 3DXML, STL, VRML, XVL, Collada, IFC, 3D Studio, KMZ, Wavefront

write:
Step, Iges, Parasolid, 3D-PDF, VRML, STL, TIFF, JPEG, BMP, DXF, WMF

An english version is available, international versions too.
licensing: per seat or floating
Servicepacks are included at no additional costs during the whole lifetime of the product. There is an automated alert system, which informs you about updates.

Consolidation of design components from different CAD systems
You can import extensive designs in different CAD formats into a single compact file. In this way, all partners can understand, analyze and interact with large amounts of product data in real-time. The ability to quickly check relationships between components prepared by different designers results in an increase in productivity while simultaneously lowering production costs.

Calculation of physical properties
Check the bounding box, volume, centre of gravity, mass and surfaces. This saves you time and helps you create sound drafts, revisions and material estimates.

Version comparison of CAD designs
Intuitive tools support the comparison of two successive versions of a design without using a CAD application. The differences between unchanged, new and old geometric data are marked in colour so that you recognize changes at a glance.

Reuse of CAD data for the production of clear documentation
You can revise CAD files in moments, create item references and parts lists, add or change lighting effects, materials or colors and create exploded views and animations and save the data as Adobe PDF or as a pixel/vector image in 2D. In this way, you can create attractive, interactive technical manuals that can be distributed to the team members and displayed with the Adobe Reader with ease.

Communication and collaboration

3D ViewStation helps you improve cooperation and communication throughout the entire company. Assemble Adobe PDF Portfolios with 2D and 3D CAD designs, layers, dimensions and other documents that every project partner can access with the free Adobe Reader®. The easy to view and secure Adobe PDF packages increase productivity, lower the error risk and accelerate the development of innovative products.

Quick and easy exchange of product information
Convert nearly every 3D CAD design and numerous other file types into the universally accessible Adobe PDF format.
This also allows you to exchange important project information with external team members quickly, reliably and at a reasonable price while improving cooperation during the product development.

More efficient communication and cooperation
Adobe PDF allows you to exchange product data with anyone with Adobe Reader. Because every authorised user can display product information and other documents and interact with them, use of CAD data beyond the design and manufacturing departments is simplified. Your team can comment on 3D designs and save the 3D views or the 3D models for improved productivity visualization and optimization, as well as rotate, enlarge, reduce, measure, and create cross-section representations.

Protection and control of confidential data
When you transmit CAD files in the Adobe PDF format, you retain control and protection of the confidential data. Passwords prevent access by unauthorised users and user-defined permissions determine who may view, print, copy or work on the document.

Maximum utilization of design data
Import nearly every CAD design in an Adobe PDF file and export them when required in a neutral file format (e.g., STEP, IGES or STL) for use in connection with downstream manufacturing processes such as tool design, CNC, prototype production or analyses. Technical editors and other creative professionals can integrate design data into interactive marketing documents or manuals without the need to invest in a costly CAD application.

Functions and advantages

Consolidation of diverse content
Assemble technical content from different sources – e.g. 3D designs, 2D drawings or spreadsheets – in a searchable Adobe PDF Portfolio that can be compressed for sending.

Template supported conversion of every CAD design in an Adobe PDF file
Easily use templates to convert 3D designs from CAD applications such as CATIA V4 and V5, Siemens NX, I-deas, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, Autodesk Inventor and many more into 3D files in the Adobe PDF format to make distributing your digital design easier.

Exchange of manufacturing data
Forward 3D designs with manufacturing data to external and internal team members as a 3D PDF file. In this way, you can directly access data relevant to manufacturing in the geometric and the subassembly structures and circumvent the production of 2D drawings.

Convert to neutral file formats for related downstream manufacturing processes
There is no need to invest in special conversion programs for CAD data.
With the help of the KISTERS ViewStation, you can convert nearly every CAD file into a neutral file format such as STEP, IGES or STL for CAD, CAM and CAE applications.

Lower risk and lower costs through the use of open standard formats

Adobe PDF is an open and reliable standard format that makes secure representation, cooperation in 3D designs, flexible use of CAD data and the publication of content during the entire product cycle easier. In addition, precise geometric data as well as large and complex CAD designs are saved in a universal format. Adobe PDF is ideally suited for quick and efficient exchange of designs and metadata or directly forwarding data relevant to manufacturing with a 3D model.

One format for many processes

Manufacturers throughout the world use Adobe PDF files throughout the entire development and manufacturing process to place their products on the market faster, more cost-effectively and with higher quality. From the concept through to material procurement up to final manufacturing, as well as in other areas connected with the downstream processes such as technical documentation, maintenance, training, marketing and distribution, Adobe PDF files simplify communication and cooperation within teams.

Because Adobe PDF documents can contain nearly every type of content, the number of file formats used in your commercial and administrative operations can be significantly reduced.

You can automate data capture and processing using the electronic form functions in the Adobe PDF format. This makes Adobe PDF an essential part of all development processes.

Flexible access to all product data

Every authorised user can display product-specific data and documents in the Adobe PDF format with the free Adobe Reader and interact with it without having to use special CAD or viewer software.

Companies and organisations can use Adobe PDF for a more secure exchange of nearly of all types of product information in every IT environment. Adobe PDF files retain the appearance and the contents of the original documents – text, layout, 2D drawings and 3D design data – no matter which application was used for the production or in which environment the file is displayed.

Cross-platform support

Thanks to the comprehensive cross-platform support of Adobe PDF, partners, customers and suppliers can display, utilize and print documents on all current platforms – Macintosh OS X, Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Linux® and many mobile systems.
