The basic design for the PKS hardware is as follows:
19" subrack with
up to 20 VME bus slots
power supply and ventilation
or
PC, workstation with
up to 7 PCI bus slots
power supply and ventilation
or
Industrial PC with ISA/PCI backplane with
up to 20 PCI bus slots
power supply and ventilation
Telecontrol processor (TCP), DEC VME single-board computer AXPvme with Alpha CPU or Alpha-PCI mother¬board or Pentium SBC as the central control processor
Freely available slots for telecontrol interface boards (TIB)
1 telecontrol interface board for:
radio clock
digital input/output
1 DI/DO board with 8 digital inputs and outputs for acquiring local signals, system alarms, or for triggering hooters, flashing lights, etc
The PKS software includes:
Operation system LINUX
Core functions for process data communication
Expansions for communication and graphic display
Modular software and hardware structures adapt to the tasks of the different types of telecontrol lines:
Different modulation methods, transmission rates, transmission protocols and data transmission concepts
Different transmission procedures standardized by individual manufacturers
Connection of telecontrol stations and station control equipment
Recording operation within existing telecontrol systems
The operating log with the substation or with a node is carried out independently.
The PKS controls the acquisition of process data and, after preprocessing, forwards this data to the control system. In the process direction, it receives control information from the control system and passes this information on to the telecontrol interface.
Core functions for process data communication
Connection of the process elements via several types of interface
USART interface
„unformatted“, serial DPDM/DPCM interface
Ethernet
Field bus systems
Connection to the process LAN
Management of the telecontrol interfaces
Acquisition of data from the telecontrol interfaces
Pre-processing of data
Management of a dynamic process data model
Processing of various transmission protocols and operating modes
Each interface can be monitored via test interfaces, which permit analysis of the signal curves on the telecontrol lines, as well as analysis of the transmission protocol.
A WEB-Server allows the smoothly operability of LineStar PKS.
Information of condition
The following system status messages are derived from the preprocessing and monitoring functions of the specific telecontrol equipment and the specific types of information:
Completeness tests, updating checks
Plausibility checks
Monitoring the transmission functions
Time-controlled functions for data acquisition
Optional for engineering
Mimic panel control (MPC)
Here, the PKS permits the distribution of information to different sinks. Information coming from the process is passed on to both the control system and the mimic panel control function.
The branching of information can be determined selectively for each data point.
Mimic panel control is carried out via a telecontrol station whilst the displays are controlled via digital outputs and the telecontrol station is operated via the "normal" telecontrol message.
AF ripple control
AF ripple control systems are operated via the RMR 166 ripple control microcomputer by way of direct connection via a TCI USART port.
