Network Control under Operating Conditions.

Network Control

The further processing of the vast volume of data in network operations management is of course not carried out in the network control system itself. Today, conventional PCs come with a wide range of software for word and graphics processing, spreadsheet analyses, logging, archiving, storing in standard databases, etc. Therefore, it makes sense to export this data from the network control system in order to be able to process it off-line where it is actually needed in a convenient and cost-effective manner. This could be, for example, the power management unit, maintenance department, management, network planning, cost management, etc.

ControlStar provides interfaces and tools with which the desired data can be made available, either cyclically or on request, on a database server. The various PCs have access to this data via an office LAN. The different evaluation programs can be evaluated and updated without affecting the network control system.

Remote alarms

Remote alarms / remote operation form another interface to company's internal information system. In small companies, in particular, the network control room is usually only manned during the day. It may be necessary to call up standby personnel in the evening and at night in order to immediately locate network faults and to eliminate these as soon as possible. Here, the network control system can automatically activate terminals, such as telephone, fax, city call or company radio transmission. Portable PCs as home control rooms can communicate with the control system via the radiotelephone network or via an ISDN connection in order to call up plant screens of the operating equipment at fault, to locate and acknowledge the fault. ControlStar is equipped with suitable interfaces that are continuously adjusted in order to meet operating requirements.
