Dangerous goods data base TRANSEC.

The dangerous goods data base TRANSEC is an important component of the ZMGS. The data base contains all product information that is described in the IMDG code and the IBC and IGS amendment for (gas) tankers and bulk tankers.

The TRANSEC module validates all dangerous goods information that is delivered to the ZMGS via the various interfaces. This ensures that only correct information regarding the ship cargo is contained in ZMGS, in case the disaster command centre requires reliable information on the dangerous goods of a damaged ship.

The Lloyds Register Ship data bank.

Lloyds, the world’s leading registration organisation, regularly releases a ship data bank which contains all essential technical data on all registered ships in maritime commerce. This data bank is stored in the ZMGS and serves as a reliable reference for all information on a ship's structural characteristics.

Interface to SafeSeaNet.

EU directive 2002/59/EC makes provision for a central index server which collects dangerous goods at sea notifications from all European coastal states. When required, all requesting agencies are informed as to who has current information on ship and cargo. For this reason the ZMGS, as the German component of the SafeSeaNet program, reports all ships that leave a German port and call at other countries to the SSN index server.
